What information do the Services obtain and how is it used?
User Provided (Personally Identifiable) Information
The Services obtain the information you provide when you download and use the App or use the Website. Registration with us is mandatory in order to be able to use the basic features of the Services. When you register with us and use the Services, you generally provide (a) your name, email, age, school affiliation, expected graduation, personality questionnaire responses, username, password, and other registration information; (b) information you provide us when you contact us for help; (c) information you enter into our system when using the Services, such as contact information, organization information, survey responses, information pertaining to contests, photos submissions, blog posts and any comments including discussions, polls, and questions, in addition to other information we may request. You may provide us with profile information to make public, such as your organization memberships, school affiliation and location, picture, and personality report. You may use your account settings to unsubscribe from notifications from Thryver. Additionally, any account settings will be recorded by us. We may use your contact information to help others find your Thryver account, including through third-party services and client applications. You may choose to upload your device’s address book so that we can help you find Thryver users you know. We may later suggest organizations to check out on Thryver based on your imported address book contacts, which you can delete from Thryver at any time. If you email us, we may keep your message, email address and contact information to respond to your request. If you connect your Thryver account to your account on another service in order to cross-post between Thryver and that service, the other service may send us your registration or profile information on that service and other information that you authorize. The information is deleted from Thryver within a reasonable timeframe after disconnecting the link between the other account and Thryver. We may also use the information you provided us to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions. Providing the additional information described in this section is entirely optional.
Automatically Collected Information
In addition, the Services may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of computer, mobile or other device (a “Device”) used to access the Services, your Device’s unique device ID, the IP address of your Device, your Device’s operating system, the types of Internet browsers your Devices use, information that you provide during registration, creating a personal profile, participating in personality-related questionnaires or polls, participation in organizations, location data and information about the way you use the Services. Any address books, login information, or photos will be collected if chosen to import into the App and/or the Website. These will not be shared by us with anyone other than Thryver. Your personality report will be automatically generated and stored based on the survey responses you give when registering for the Services.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
When you access the Website, the Website also automatically collects certain non-personally identifiable information through the use of web beacons and log files. Such information may include your IP address, browser type, the date and time of your usage of the Website and whether you opened e-mails you received from us. This information is collected about thousands of site visits and analyzed as a whole. This information is useful in, for example, tracking the performance of our online advertising such as online banner ads and to determine where to place future advertising on other Websites.
We may collect your personal information or data from third parties if you give permission to those third parties to share your information with us. For example, you may have the option of registering and signing into Thryver with your Facebook account details. If you do this, the authentication of your logon details is handled by Facebook and we only collect information about your Facebook account that you expressly agree to share with us at the time you give permission for your Thryver account to be linked to your Facebook account.
We may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information to service providers, suppliers, partners and vendors who help with our business operations; as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect out rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request; with our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement; we may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information to parties involved with Thryver in a potential strategic partnership, if Thryver is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, sale of all or a portion of its assets (or similar transaction), and you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our Website of any change in ownership or uses of this information, as well as any choices you may have regarding this information as a result of any consummated transaction or filing.
Automatic Data Collection and Advertising
We may work with analytics companies to help us understand how the Services are being used, such as the frequency and duration of usage. We work with advertisers and third party advertising networks, who need to know how you interact with advertising provided in the Services which helps us keep the cost of the Services low or free. Advertisers and advertising networks use some of the information collected by the Services, including, but not limited to, the unique identification ID of your mobile device. To protect the anonymity of this information, we use an encryption technology to help ensure that these third parties can’t identify you personally. We may also share encrypted versions of information you have provided in order to enable our partners to append other available information about you for analysis or advertising related use. If you’d like to opt-out from third party use of this type of information to help serve targeted advertising, please visit the section entitled “Opt-out” below.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can stop all collection of information by the App easily by uninstalling the App or discontinuing use of the Website. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. You can also request to opt-out via email, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may update your account at any time by logging in and changing your profile settings (where applicable on the App or Website).
You may unsubscribe from email communications from us by clicking on the “unsubscribe link” provided in such communications. You may not opt-out of Service-related communications and reminders, changes/updates to features of the Service, or technical and security notices.
Data Retention Policy; Managing Your Information
We will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Services and for a reasonable time thereafter. We will retain Automatically Collected information in aggregate storage for a reasonable amount of time so as to provide uninterrupted Services to Users in the future. If you would like us to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the Services, please contact us at email@example.com and we will respond in a reasonable time. Please note that some or all of the User Provided Data may be required in order for the Services to function properly.
A Message to Organization Leaders
Our Services are primarily designed to help you share information about your school. Most of the information you provide to us is information you are either asking us to make public in an organization profile or a public post, or in internal announcements and discussions that are viewed exclusively by your approved members. This includes not only the announcements you post and the metadata provided with posts, such as when you posted, but also the lists you create and many other bits of information that result from your use of the Services. Your public information is broadly and instantly disseminated. For instance, your public organization profile information and public announcements may be searchable. When you share information or content like photos, videos, and links via the Services, you should think carefully about what you are making public.
We do not use the Services to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our Services. Please be aware that, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.
You can permanently delete your Thryver account. If you follow the instruction on the Website or the App, the account will be deactivated and then deleted. When your account is deactivated, it is not viewable on the Website or the App. For up to 30 days after deactivation it is still possible to restore your account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated. After 30 days, we begin the process of deleting your account from our systems, which we will do in a reasonable time thereafter.
